2016 Mission Trips
“Let no one be discouraged by the belief that there is nothing one man or one woman can do against the enormous array of the world's ills--against misery and ignorance, injustice and violence...Few will have the greatness to bend history itself; but each of us can work to change a small portion of events”.
~ Robert Kennedy

Travel with me
Do you want to make a difference in people’s lives? Whether you are a professional in your field or not all you need is a caring heart. You can teach English to our community elementary school,
You can see patients in our village clinic
or You can teach the community sanitation the importance of washing hands and you can show them how to grow their own food so they can be self-sufficient. There is a lot you can do when you go with Fr. Joseph.
Teaching VILLAGERS How to live a healthier fulfilling life with their chronic conditions- HIV/AIDS. Just because they have chronic illness does not mean that life does not go on. There are still chores to do, friendships to maintain, church services to attend and volunteer and family relationships to continue to maintain. Life still must go on. When they are diagnosed as having a chronic illness like HIV/AIDS their future changes and with this comes changes in planning and changes in emotions.
As you would expect, the village has a pressing need for medical professionals. Physicians, nurses, and nurse practitioners will find great reward in providing patient care at the clinic. As our volunteer base grows we are hopeful to include a dentist and optometrist in our mix of providers within the next year. There is much work to be done, and non-medical and medical personnel work side by side in their efforts to help.
If you are interested in an experience that will show you the heart of the Kenyans particularly the maasai people and give you a new perspective, please contact us. We have opportunities to help in many areas. This is what we will be doing for 10 days
We serve an under-privilege community in a remote area of Kenya. We will be screening everyone whom we will see for chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension and HIV, then tried to connect patients with local healthcare providers for follow- up care. The typical patient in my village doesn’t see a doctor on regular basis, so when they come in, they have multiple needs. There are barriers that prevent my village from accessing healthcare including cultural beliefs, a lack of money, fear and an inability to get to distant hospitals. That is so many people in my village still die from easily treatable diseases like malaria, typhoid, pneumonia, dysentery and measles. I am very certain that once the word get out that we are giving free health screenings and medications, people from other villages will walk for miles to see us. Just expect long lines of patients every morning because healthcare need is great in my village.
